Led by Michael Murphy, who brings over 25 years of global experience in racing and breaking. With a proven track record for producing sound, confident, race-ready horses, Michael has worked with leading trainers worldwide. Our pre-training operation has successfully broken in yearlings for clients as far afield as Bahrain, as well as many local trainers here in Newmarket.

Services

BREAKING IN AND EDUCATING TWO-YEAR-OLDS

At Michael Murphy Pre-Training, we provide expert breaking services for both homebred and purchased yearlings. This crucial stage lays the foundation for their future success on the track, ensuring each horse receives the education, confidence, and preparation needed before entering full training.

FULL TRAINING

With first-class facilities and proven expertise, we prepare horses for racing right through to the stage of galloping, ensuring they are fit, confident, and ready for the next step in their training.

REST AND REHABILITATION

Whether a horse needs time out of the training yard or recovery from injury, we provide the care and environment they need to recharge. Once ready, we carefully bring them back into work, ensuring they return to training fit, confident, and prepared to progress.

STALLS WORK

We collaborate with recognised stalls professionals to provide expert training. From young horses learning the basics to those with specific challenges, we offer patient, professional handling to build confidence and ensure safe, reliable performance in the stalls.

SALES PREPARATION

We take horses in ahead of auction to provide essential down time and conditioning, ensuring they arrive looking and feeling their best. Conveniently located just five minutes from Tattersalls, we offer the perfect base for sales preparation.

TRANSIT STABLING

We provide short- and long-term stabling for horses in transit, whether they are travelling abroad, heading to the sales, or going racing. Our facilities ensure they remain safe, comfortable, and well cared for during their journey.

INTERNATIONAL QUARANTINE

For horses travelling to the UK for major race meetings, we are able to provide international quarantine facilities. As we are not a licensed training yard, this offers flexibility for visiting connections. Owners can send their own groom, or Michael Murphy can personally oversee care and pre-race preparation to ensure each horse is ready for the big day.
